Special Events

Each year there are several signature special events including the annual Poetry and Chili Festival, Entertainment Tonight!, our monthly Wine and Music Wednesday gatherings, the monthly Salon of Shorts, 2nd Wednesday Theater and the annual Art and Souls Masquerade Ball.  


Salon of Shorts

Ongoing: 3rd Wednesday of every month, 7:30pm

Cotuit Center for the Arts offers an open mic series called Salon of Shorts on the fourth Wednesday of each month in the Art Studio. Award-winning poets, playwrights, and spoken word performers Christine Rathbun Ernst and Gregory Hischak host the series, which encompasses all types of performances: poetry, storytelling, essay reading, music, performance art, improv, and stand-up.

Wine and Music Wednesday is an open house held in our Gallery on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, with wine tasting and live music.

16th Annual Poetry & Chili Fest

March 5

Beat the winter blues with an evening of great chili and cornbread, talented local poets, ice cold Cape Cod Beer, frosty Margaritas, and DJ Keith Lemire spinning hot tunes all night long. The evening begins with the Chili and Cornbread Contest from 6 to 7 PM. Samples of an eclectic array of chili and cornbread recipes are included in the price of admission. Contestants are invited to bring enough chili and/or cornbread for 150 or more small tastings. Cooks must register in advance at ArtsOnTheCape.org, where more information is available on how to participate. Cooks must read the USDA’s guidelines on Cooking for Groups. Cooks are encouraged to provide chili toppings, such as cheese, guacamole, and sour cream, and to decorate their stations. Prizes will be awarded for Best Chili, Best Cornbread, and Best Decorated Station. Acclaimed Cape Cod poet Christine Ernst leads the Poetry portion of the event, which begins about 7 PM, followed by music and dancing.

Sunday Student Showcase - March 2016

Sunday, March 6 at 3:00pm 

The Sunday Music Showcase is a series of free monthly performance events featuring students from across the Cape. This series is the result of a fantastic collaboration between the Cape Cod Conservatory, Cotuit Center for the Arts, Cultural Center of Cape Cod and Wellfleet Preservation Hall, who have joined forces to present local student talent in inspiring, artistic locations.

Cotuit on the Road – the new joint venture between Cotuit Center for the Arts and Brave Horse Music – brings “What the World Needs Now—A Musical Tribute to Burt Bacharach” The musical revue, which is produced and directed by Ruth Condon, was originally presented at CCftA in March of 2014 and brought back in June of 2015. “Both runs completely sold out every performance,” said Condon. “The audience—and the cast members—enjoyed it so much that we are thrilled to be bringing it to the Dan’l Webster Inn”. The show will feature songs written between 1958 and 1995, including “Walk on By,” “They Long To Be Close to You” “Alfie,” “Heartlight,” and “This House is Empty Now,” a collaboration with Elvis Costello.

Wine and Music Wednesday is an open house held in our Gallery on the third Wednesday of every month from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, with wine tasting and live music.

The first event was held in March of 2010 and it has become a very popular event at the Center. It’s the perfect way to end your day, start your evening or just join friends for a night out looking at terrific art. Tickets are just $10 or $5 for members and are only available at the door.

3rd Annual Kentucky Derby Gala

May 7

Join us for Cotuit’s annual Run for the Roses!  Celebrate the Kentucky Derby Cotuit Style!

We’ll have live betting, a hat parade and contest, photo ops with horses, surprise events and of course, mint juleps!  The race will be broadcast live on our high definition 26 foot movie screen, so plan to join us a cheer your horse and jockey! 

16th Annual Art & Souls Costume Ball

October 29, 7:30pm  

Come celebrate the 16th year of our horrifyingly fun Halloween dance party -- this year's theme will be "Sweet Sixteen Zombie Prom Night!"  Time to party with the undead!

Enjoy music, dancing, and “bone-chilling” refreshments.
